Wow, that was quite a scare with the temporary electrical failure you had. Please let us know if you find out what was the cause. We’re still on our 10 day maiden cruise now in the San Juan’s. Love the boat. Have 14 hrs on the engine so far. No problems of any significance. As I mentioned earlier I will report on my experiences with the single 300 upon our return.

Had eight adults on my offshore 895 the other day, fuel tanks just over half full. It was quite a struggle to get up on plane, moved most forward of the helm to get the front to come down, but when they went back to the booth area it would fall off plane under full throttle. So I need to have more power, bigger boat, or smaller friends,,,or not. maybe I need to check the bottom, even thought the dealer bottom painted it in mid June, its lived in the water since then on the Chesapeake bay. Got a date with the dealer this coming Thursday so they can check for a cause of the electrical problem I had. (so far just one time)

We have had 6 adults, full fuel tanks, full water, food x 3 days plus a raft. It took longer to get up on step, but otherwise would plane fine. Had to use trim tabs, but I use some level of trim tabs most of the time. Our boat has been bottom painted but has also been in the water since new. Let us know what the dealer finds out. Dogbreath

I would not expect you To have this planing problem. You have the twin 200’s right? Do you have any other heavy accessories like AC or a generator? Or heavy gear in the cockpit locker? Did you trim the engines Full down and the trim tabs full Down?
We’re still On our maiden voyage. Crossed the straight Of Juan de fuca today heading south. Love out 895.

Yes I do have the twin 200's, and I do have AC and generator. I had the port trim tab down when we were slow cruising, but put it back up to get on plane, figuring that they would just increase drag. But you know, maybe I'm wrong about that. I've only used them a few times when more weight (people) tend to be sitting in the booth. Also I did see today, that theres more fuel in the tanks than I thought, about 7/8's full.
And yes, I will post what the dealer found out with the electrical problem. I don't know what they can check that I haven't already done, but maybe I'm wrong about that too! (actually hoping I am)

Sounds like you have a lot of weight in the stern. Some guesses ...Twin 200’s approx 950 lbs, the offshore hull and larger tanks 100 lbs over the standard, the generator 100 lbs, fuel 700 lbs, people 1200. And then with other gear etc further forward and the AC unit and water in the tank she’s pretty heavy. Doesn’t surprise me that she struggled to get up. On the engine trim, full down will help push the stern up. On the trim tabs full down will help push the stern up. Try it and you will see the difference Regardless of loading. But this still may not be enough to lift all that weight. This does create more drag at speed. Speaking boats in general. If reasonably loaded it works well to use the engine and tabs full down to get on plane quicker. Then trim the tabs and engine up a bit in increments to find the sweet spot for planing depending on load and water conditions. In some cases you will be able to trim the trim tabs all the way up for the best planing speed. In some situations you may need to keep the tabs deployed partially or fully. Same thing for the engines trim. Best position if not too heavy is likely a few “bars” up until you get slight proposing and then back down just a bit till she runs steady.

Agree re trim tabs and engine trim. Even so I'm very surprised falls off plane "at full throttle" with twin 200s. Can i ask what size props you are using?

Brought home “knee Deep” yesterday. Offshore version with twin 200’s , full fuel, full water, two people. Popped up on plane easily and stayed on plane down to about 18knots. Ran to book specs at 4000rpm and 22 knots or so. Trim tabs not needed to plane but improve ride and speed. Does need more power to stay on plane in a sharp turn but that is expected. We had steep chop and some whitecaps and she did pound but that would be expected. She does not have a genset or air but will eventually and I will be very conscience of weight.

Canusa and I are pretty sure this is our nc895 offshore legend. I'm guessing that vn042 written on the back is the hull number? Looking forward to Monday 😁 Almost had to jump the fence to do some unwrapping.

Congratulations urbanerosion. We are excited for you. Thanks for the pictures. Keep us informed as the boat gets fitted. I have not looked back at earlier posts, but have you named the boat yet? dogbreath

Thanks Dogbreath, We have decided to name her Cascadia as my wife is from Washington and I am from British Columbia. We will post more to the group as the build moves along.

Congrats Urbanerosion, it’s always exciting when she finally shows up at the boat yard for config. Is it being prepped in Blaine?

I was up in Blaine this morning dropping my boat off for some work. Spoke to a Skip and he said you are taking delivery this week. They got your boat moved and I saw Lee starting the prep. Lee is a good guy, knows his stuff, and does top quality work. I’m sure you will be pleased.

Well.. we stopped by Sundance this morning to see "the" boat. Unfortunately for us the boat is not ours, but a big congratulations to the new owners! Our July 2 delivery date and our August 17 delivery date have come and gone. I am a little frustrated to say the least. Sorry for jumping the gun with the post 😐

Hmm, sorry to hear as that is frustrating. I was excited for you! Was that not your hull number and did they give you an ETA? The new Cadillac plant has been a pretty big issue for many this year.

We're ok with waiting but would expect better communication between the factory and the front line. We are supposed to take delivery September 1 hull 47. We haven't signed the papers as Jason doesn't have the serial number for the engines yet. I guess that I have another week (or so) to buy boat toys to be installed.

I just spotted this tender solution on YouTube, though it is not very elegant. MF 895 Tender rack

Thanks michaelk for the video. I am in need of a better method to haul my raft. I am going to look further into it. Thanks again for sharing. dogbreath

I had a chance this past Thursday to take a tour of the Factory in Cadillac and see the build process of the 895. It was a great tour and the shop foreman was extremely honest and open. He is happy with their progress in the new model and for those of you looking for the cabinets over the forward berth it looks like those are now being manufactured again. If someone has build number 52, let me know as I have images of the boat during each step of the build almost.

Hi everyone, my 895 requires the limit switches be bypassed in order to tilt. Seems like there should be an interlock to allow trim with seat back and full tilt with seat forward. What is your setup?

Hi Kneedeep. I am not familiar with a limit switch. On our NC 895, the trim and tilt operate regardless of the position of the back bench. This is of concern since raising the motors fully when the bench is in the back position can cause damage to the cowlings or/and the bench seat. Dogbreath
