Anyone got any innovative ideas / pics of how to optimise the storage in a 42DS fridge, especially the lower areas below the baskets? Horizontal layers of food doesn’t work so well as you need to remove everything else to retrieve something at the bottom layer (often the hardest stuff eg apples). But I think vertical storage might be better eg some spaghetti containers, so you can get at everything more easily. But any other ideas?

We use three cloth shopping bags with long handles which exactly fit the lower rectangle of our fridge. We pack each either by complete meals or food type. Slide the upper racks to the side, reach for and remove a bag, close the fridge top and dig around in the bag on the counter for the desired contents. Our bags survive a season being put in the washer once a week.

Hi, if you search the forum for a thread that I posted on 24/3/17 titled ‘fridge bins’ you will see some pictures of some ikea bins that I use in our 42DS. There is probably some way that you can post a link to it, but I can’t find it. Hope that this helps. Certainly works for us. Tim Peacock

Here is a link to the thread: jeanneau.proboards.com/thread/5299/Those look perfect! I might have to pick up a couple for our boat! We have to use a set of tongs to reach stuff on the bottom of our fridge! Unfortunately I cannot find them on IKEA's website. Do you know the name of the product? The number does not come up when searched.

From memory, they were kitchen waste sorting bins. They were definitely in the kitchen fitting department.
