Recently purchased a SO 40 that has the standard Raymarine Electronics. I have purchased an additional RL70crc plus slave with Scanpod to mount in the cockpit. Has anybody carried out a similar task? My intention is to mount on the coach roof, port side, beneath the spray hood. Before I start drilling holes etc I would like to know if it is viewable from the helm(s) or if there is a more suitable place to mount. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have a look back through some of the older threads. Another SO 40 user had posted some images of a plotter being mounted on the aft edge of the cockpit table.
Ours is located at the Nav table. Has worked out ok for the last 3 seasons. I do sometimes have my iPhone in my pocket though.

That was my thread jeanneau.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=eq&action=display&thread=1449I have yet to mount anything in the cockpit. My current plan is to get an Raymarine E7 and then mount it in place of the starboard compass. I need to go down to Greece to remove the compass and do some measurements to see if it will be all possible. I dragged my feet about the table mount as I have not been brave enough to commit to drilling holes in the cockpit floor for the wiring.

On a previous boat I drilled the cockpit floor to take a largish wire for a wheel mounted autopilot, I used one of the Index glands and had no problem, Scanstrut also now make some good waterproof wire mounts

I'm also not a fan of exposed cables. At the end of the day as I know very little about boat maintenance & modifications any mod that has a point of no return has me umming and ahhhing alot

This is the reason why I am hesitating in drilling holes in the boat. I think I will connect the plotter and test from each helm position. I'll post back with the results. Thanks for the advice so far....

You would not need to drill into the cabin divider there is a void between the cockpit floor and the headlining to the aft cabins
We have a plotter on the back edge of the table with the wires then run down through the table leg and into the floor with a suitable cable gland
Apart from 3inch tails connected to the back of the plotter not a cable in sight

I am on the boat this weekend and will take a few Did you take the photos? I'm on board at the moment and just removed the cover to get access to where the steering gear is. I can see the slight gap between the cockpit floor and the inner liner. It seems nearly impossible to get access to the gap, but perhaps when you have a hole in the floor it is possible to push the cables through. I had plans to mount a Raymarine E7 where the compass is on the starboard helm but I now realise it will not fit without getting a new handrail. So now I'm back to the table mount and drilling into the floor. Of course now I wonder if the E7 is too small and I should look at the E95 instead.
