Has anyone replaced the 38mm white flexible waste pipe in the forward head of J43ds? I have done the aft one which was quite easy as the pipe run is accesible but am less clear with the other loo! The pipe seems to disappear upwards behind the hull liner and then come back down to the stopcock. (There's no forward holding tank on my boat, just on the aft one)
Thanks for any advice

Hi Rob,
The pipe always goes to a high point with a siphon breaker to prevent the contents of a full tank siphoning back to the bowl and potentially overflowing, yuk!
There may be an easily removable back to a wardrobe where it is going up to the siphon breaker, and comes back down before running aft.
We only have one head only through the bulkhead from the tank, the siphon breaker is in the little aft cupboard beside the bulkhead, but I am not familiar with the layout of your cabins.

Like rene460 said it is a siphon breaker.
I have changed all the pipes/fitings on my 43DS There is enough space in the fwd heads

Thanks to Rene & Ales for your replies. I understand why it goes 'north' ie the need to make a syphon trap, but just wondered how to access that area as it didn't seem obvious when I last looked. On the J43ds there is the small bathroom locker just above to loo but it doesn't seem to be hidden in there; rather behind it and the mirror (??). Anyhow, I go out to the boat in a week's time so will investigate further! Incidentally, I was mighty chuffed to do the stern one last year - The old pipe had years worth of crud encrusted in it and the usable diameter was down to 10mm! It was disgusting. Once new pipe fitted and J Valve cleaned up it works like new. Reckon I could get a job as a Jabsco engineer (not that I'm tempted)!

Hi Robin,
We had our front vanity cupboard taken out to have a holding tank fitted. The fitters threw away the teak cupboard in error so ours is now open (until we build a new one) which means you can see where everything goes on the Jeanneau fit. We are heading down on May 5th for a maintenance week prior to launch. If you are still in Cleo around that time come and take a look if that helps. We're on Row J. J52 rings a bell but might be off by a few places. You know what we look like!
Cheers

That's very kind! I think May 5th is when we fly back (only a short visit this time) but will keep an eye out for you in Cleo and if we haven't sorted it by then I might come and say hi.
Thanks
Robin

If we don't meet up I will take a few pics and post them here. They may prove useful to others.

How did the hard anti-foul work out?

The 38mm hose goes from toilet outlet to the siphon (up) and to the valve/fitting. It is easy accessible from the locker you mentioned and from the locker under the sink. There is no need to remove anything (especially the mirror panel)! The siphon is not fixed! It is just a U turn. So once you disconnect the hose from the valve and the toilet you can just pull it out. Pipe do get clogged. There is no need to change it. If it is causing problems just take it out and bang in against the floor (do it outside the boat:) Everything will fall out. It the pipe is damaged then change it- of course. When mounting back the pipes - heat them with heat gun. And then put two pipe clamps on each side. To be safe...

If you have no access to a heat gun or hair dryer, then immersing the ends of stiff plastic pipe in a basin of recently boiled water will soften them nicely and ease re-fitting.
