changing a power point from euro to UK, be careful

just changed the one a MF 695, port side, outboard of the fridge
the cable connecting it is somewhat short, so you'd be tempted to pull it just a little to get the slack out of the hole to ease the disconnect and new connection
well, don't, there is a socket and plug in line with the power point dangling behind the facia
a small amount of tension and it pulls apart
then the female side falls down behind the main electric socket for the boat in the cockpit
unscrew the vent below the electric socket and you can just about reach both parts, but how to get two hands in the push it back together again ??
with one hand you can gently put the two together, but more force is needed to properly click it home
the connector has square shoulders, i set up two tie ons, one on each side
and wound those up with some long nosed pliers
all back together again
but why a connector there
