This is U dek, artificial teak, applied to port and starboard hull. We made it 8 cm. wide. The colour is black with blue. The same foam material for decks, only cut this time in long stripes. It follows the hull step line from stern to bow. You just follow the edge on the hull. About 30 cm above from water line. Sticks to hull with some pressure. After a season no problem so far.

Hi ihsan, How is you artificial teak strip holding up after a could of seasons? Is this purely for aesthetics or does it act as a rubbing strip? Stu

The artificial teak, U Deck hull protection project proved to be successful. No issues so far. It seems as though it is going to be permanent. There is no wear or tear. Stays as if it is new. It acts as a rubbing strip and more. The idea came to me after the boat got stratchs and scars from neighbours in the marina. These showed when the boat was lifted up. In addition gives more strenght to some degree to fiberglass in case of impact. Matte black with thin blue stripe on top and lower end suits legend blue boat. That thin blue is inharent in the material and comes out by CNC cutting of the material. It is possible to find other kinds of thicker material that will do the job. But this one took 20 minutes to apply. U deck is self adhesive. The border line is already there and you simply follow it and press the sheets with your hand. My choice was 8 cm.s width. It can be 6 or 7. Bigger probably would not look good. But this 8 cm. seems OK. The total lenght is 14 meters. 7 meters on each side. There are about 10 long sheets that form 14 meters. You just add them up. The joints are there but not visiable even from close distance. Seems all together one piece.
