I'm getting my (new to me) 2006 JSO 35 up and outfitted - LOVE it so far! First race on Sun - this floating condo better be fast! Anyway, I've been looking around this site and others trying to figure out what type of feathering prop is installed. There wasn't any brochure or anything on the boat when I bought it - here's what it looks like - Anyone recognize this? The blades rotate pitch into position depending on the rotation of the shaft (forward/ reverse). I'm getting vibrations when motoring and sailing. I don't know if I need to put it gear to get the blades to feather or leave it in neutral... also, coming into my slip I put the gear in reverse - REVERSE - R E V E R S E!!! Finally seemed to kick in. Any ID or help with how to manage this would be very appreciated!

Looks like a "max-prop", but do not quote me on that one. That is one brand that operates as you said. I have had no issues with mine. It may need servicing, ie some grease into it to keep it operational, this also can be done in the water by a diver.
I also keep mine in reverse when sailing, to make sure the prop will fold up. It supposidly takes about 3 knots to make it fold, so rev it up then shut it off. I ended up using reverse when one day it was still rotating on a windy downwind run. Got it to quit, and gained over a knot in speed, from 6-7 to over 8 into the 9's.

Thanks, Marty! You got it. I went to the website and see that is exactly the prop I've got.
When you say rev it up, you mean in reverse? Won't revving in reverse keep the blades pitched? If in neutral, what does revving it do at all?
Thanks for the tip about greasing. I'm sure that it hasn't been greased in its 3 seasons - seems like the boat wasn't used much and the owner didn't spend much time overall.
8-9 knots - sweet! Can't wait... still have to tune the rig before taking it out for real - my yard just "connected" all the shrouds. Good job for the 4th long weekend.

The part about revving it up, is get the boat going to over 3 knots forward, then shut the motor off, and put into reverse. Especially if the wind is light. As you want the boat to coast at that speed+ to get the blades to fold.
