I'm a new owner of a 2006 SO35 with some toilet problems! The toilet is very hard (impossible?) to prime unless I cover the vented loop under the sink (usually with my finger). According to Jabsco www.jabsco.com/files/29090_-_29120_-_3000_datasheet.pdf (figure on p 3 plus CAUTION on right) this should NOT be installed between the seacock and the inlet valve (as it is on my boat) but looped in the white tube connecting the pump to the bowl. Anyone else have similar problems? What work-arounds have people found?! Your help is greatly appreciated!!!! Going crazy! New boat with non-functional toilet! Nice!

Renegade, This is the same toilet as on our SO37. After a couple of years the top valve gasket, item 21 in the data sheet, distorts due to swelling in the gasket material and it becomes very difficult to achieve a seal. As a very temporary measure you can run some vaseline around the valve. My guess is that you need a valve overhaul kit and you may as well do the whole overhaul as the discharge valve also hardens after a few years and lets water leak back into the bowl. See earlier threads on a SO 40.3 toilet problem. When you do the kit replacement take care not to lose item 35, the valve spring which keeps a little pressure on the top valve and helps to make the seal. If time is short you can do the top valve gasket in 10 minutes and the full overhaul when you have a lazy hour. Regards

Thanks, David - I already replaced the whole pump unit (rebuild kit was $60 = whole new pump assy $100).
I saw the thread on the 40.3 toilet - stupidly I used the two old flapper valves as they look good - and now I need to take it apart again and use the new ones. Can't imagine what I was thinking!
Does the 37 also have a vented loop between the seacock and the inlet?
I'm really wondering if this is necessary (assuming I am in the habit of shutting the seacock when leaving the boat for extended time).
Also, the new Jabsco toilets have a second lock position for the handle which is supposed to prevent flow into the toilet from either inlet or outlet.

Renegade,
The diagrams in the owners manuals, both available on line from Jeanneau, look identical. I have not looked at the loops as installed on our yacht as we have not had any issues other than the wear and tear on the valves.
