The "standard" forestay furler line path on my 34.2 is over the cabintop to a port side clutch at the outside of all the others.
Needless to say, on a 2 winch boat, the furler line tends to get in the way of other running rigging. We are likely to relocate it to the port side lifeline stanchions, bringing it back toward the helm where the helmsperson can regulate it as the jib is pulled out, without fear of fouling the port jib sheet. Over half the boats in our marina are rigged this way.
Has anyone done this? If so, how did you terminate the furler line astern? I'm considering a cleat attached to the cockpit coaming at the port stern corner thereof, running to a block attached to the foremost port stern pulpit stanchion, then going through stanchion blocks forward.

Hi karl, I for one can't understand why Jeanneau route the line as they do, one big trip hazard on the for-deck. I have changed it on my 32SO to run outside along the stanchions on the starboard side, that suited me best, plus it was easy to bolt a Spinlock jammer on that side via the locker and a block after that to the push-pit base. Cheap way to make a safe working area and as you say the rope is away from the other buzzy area plus we can use a 2 speed winch or just by hand as I mainly do. Have a look at new Bavaria's or Dufour's and you can see how it all works. Cheers

I have a 34.2 and i moved the furler to run along the inside of the stanchions on the port side. I basically ended up using a Spinlock jammer to lock it off. Don't put the jammer too aft because you'll end up pulling upwards instead of backwards........as for the 2 winches....i removed the genoa turning blocks and replacedthem with 2 new winches. I now have 2 winches on each side of the coachroof.......and it works a dream

The reroute was done mid-summer and it worked out very well, indeed! Will tweak/perfect over the coming season.
The idea of 2nd cabintop winch set is OK, if you don't already have a dodger in the way, which I do! It is nearly in the way of the two OEM winches - need different length handles on each side to avoid dimensional conflict!
Maddening, eh?

did the same on my SO32 I used a "clamp-on" cleat fixed to the pushpit - saved drilling holes in the boat !!!
