I’m planning on installing some electric trim tabs on my 2017 795 this offseason, but could use some help/recommendations. The previous owner installed “automatic” gas piston trim tabs by Nauticus. The are not controllable and do not correct for listing due to weight imbalances. They are cheap junk and useless in my opinion. So I want to put in something I can control. I’ve looked into Lenco (which I had on my previous boat), Bennett Bolts, and Lectrotab. Zipwakes look great too, but a bit out of my budget.
Does anyone have any preference for one company over the other? And more importantly, what size works best for these boats? Trim tab size charts seem to give conflicting information about the correct sizing. Some recommend 9x12, some 12x12 and I’ve also read that the correct size should have a width in inches that corresponds to the foot length of the boat, so 24”, which seems too large to fit properly, but I’m not sure. Any insight on what has worked well for you guys would be much appreciated.
Also, these boats have a plastic yamaha external fuel filter above the gas tank that seems to be unavailable in the US for some reason. I would like to replace the filter element inside it, but have no idea what the part number is or where to find one in the US. Has anyone found or replaced one of these?

I've wondered about trim tabs but can't convince myself the extra complexity is worth it, the boat runs level enough unless I'm on a really massive cargo run (we commute between home & waterfront cabin), in those cases I can take it for an hour or two.

Fuel filter element part number is 90794-46871. I had previously (pre-Covid) purchased some through e-Bay from a British dealer but the price of shipping has gone up substantially (about $40 for filter and $50 for shipping!). Since you can get a whole replacement unit with US-standard water separation filter for less, I plan to replace the filter unit in my boat when I run out of the European filters. Unit appears to be easily accessible and should be a do-able swap. Although US filter does not have the clear bowel to check for water in system, I have not had any water in my system over the past 3 years using non-ethanol marine gas and using Yamaha fuel stabilizer.

Thanks odetta! Thats very helpful. I’ll look around and see if I can find them for a reasonable price. I just dont understand why Yamaha would not offer that filter in the US, seems like an overall better product than the basic blue filters available here.

I put Bennett Bolt Electric tabs on my 795 a few years ago. 12 x 12 inch tabs. They work well, no probs so far. The size seems right. Particularly helps when planing through chop or with leaning into wind.
