please advise... I have a 2008 jeanneau SO 45, which is now in french polynesia after a 22 days crossing..the problem is water is dripping a quite a fast rate through my "dripless stuffin box" the rubber seal appears to be perfect condition, but how can i stop the constant flow of water/

I not 100% sure but this probably a Volvo type unit, they need to be water lubricated otherwise they will wear, to ensure there is water not air behind the seal they have to be regularly "burped"
If this has not been done I would think you may have to change it to stop the drips and for safety. Volvo produce a grease in a little sachet that can be used to grease the lips, you have to be careful not to damage the faces, if you squeeze the unit you can then squirt grease in, possibly better is to use a disposal syringe with a short plastic tube cut at an angle and introduce the grease with that, again take a lot care that the seal is not damaged by rough handling
The grease may significant reduce the dripping - at least when the engine is not running...

Agree. To burp, just squeeze the rubber until water comes out. Best thing to use for putting in the Volvo grease is a disposable plastic pipette (medical scientists use them), cut the top off and put some grease in the bulb, squeeze down to the end with pliers and push gently into the gap made when burping. Water will come in but as soon as you pushe the grease out it will stop.
