Hi ... I have a 2012 SO44DS with factory fitted Jabsco Quiet Flush toilet (37045) using seawater as the flushing water (not potable) fitted in the aft port head. When holding the top toggle switch it would initially drain then fill back up and then drain again. This cycle would repeat continuously about every 5 secs after the bowl had roughly half filled. I had always assumed this is the normal operation for that top button. Is that in fact the normal operation I recently had a blockage in the macerator/pump which I cleared. Since then, when holding the top flush toggle switch it simply just drains with the water continuously flowing but never filling back up and then cycling out as previous. There appears to be an electric pump that supplies the flushing sea water to the bowl somewhere behind the mirror (I can hear it run) How do get access to that Do you need to remove the mirror and if so how do you do that without breaking it

Hi..
I have a 41DS 2015. The pump is behind the mirror as you mentioned. Slide up the mirror with your hands and when it clears the bottom you pull the bottom out and slide it back down towards you. I have done it many times and as long as you do not drop the mirror you have nothing to worry about. . It is a tight fight but it comes out. You will see relays and pumps both the pump for salt water to the toilet and the sump pump for the shower and I believe one of the thru hulls. There is also a filter for those pumps so it is a good time to twisted off and clean it. My switch does three things. One, is a dry flush....just flush no water. The other is fill with salt water...no flush. The combo switch does both and as long as you hold the switch both the water and the flush works. I thing what you might be seeing is that the flush is faster than the water coming in giving the impression that cycling is taking place. Or maybe you had a bad connection that was intermittently working one the macerator vs the pump. I will pay more attention next time I in the boat.

There should be a strainer on the seawater inlet which can often get clogged up. Remove the cover and clean it out and see id it makes any difference.

I’m familiar with both styles of operation. Mine did the fill and drain cycle thing… then I cleaned out the filters, replaced the joker valve and seals and now it just empties what is pumped in. Both styles of operation were/are effective in dealing with its primary purpose in life!
