Hi, I have been reading through a lot of post over the past few months while waiting for my 895 Sport to be commissioned, and one topic that really catched my attention as I was sorting through electronic selection was the multi-function display. Let's get this one out of the way : yes you can have a display greater than 9"! (read a comment from a sales person that told his client that no display greater than 9" could be installed. Might had one already installed!). 12" is a no brainer, it will fit nicely at the helm including other equipment displays. When looking at 16", available real estate become a little more challenging. I am fixing to instal at or around the helm: - Raymarine Axiom Pro 16 - Evolution Autopilot Display - Yamaha Command Link 7" The VHF and the radio with speakers will be installed overhead directly atop the windshield. Also if you can share where did you installed the VHF with some pictures I am all for it (still thinking over this). Turns out that the main issue is the already installed Command Link (my boat came pre-rig for Yams from the factory). The display is wider than the one provided by Mercury, and as such the Raymarine display overlap the Command Link display as shown in the attached picture. i.postimg.cc/PqBhgb3f/3593-F1-D0-9-C5-A-4-F0-E-BD62-9-D54-A184-BBFD.jpgThe white pieces of foam are the cut out for the display and the autopilot. Even by fitting the display to the port edge I end up with an overlap on the Command Link. The Command Link will have to go...to another place. i.postimg.cc/NFD3jR4H/B8089885-7-EC8-4-C1-C-976-C-1520-C6-CE19-CD.jpgOn the picture above, I am moving the Command Link just above the wheel, and using the existing cut out to fit the autopilot control. I will have a gap between both screens due to the wider cut out left by the Command Link, but will fill in with a piece of black plexiglass 3/8 thick by 1/2" wide. It will be hard to see the difference with the fiberglass unless looking with a magnifier, and this is 100% better than trying to add a laminate with black gel coat which will show as much as the plexiglass anyhow! Positioning the Command Link atop the wheel is not ideal since reading while seated might be a little challenging. No issue while standing we have a direct unobstructed line of sight on the display. However the RAY display can be connected via NMEA 2000 to the engines display so I will be able to have direct reading while cruising at the helm chair. If any interest I will keep the group abreast of the commissioning which I am doing myself for the large part, beside the expert help of some very skilled friends. Also part of the commissioning: - Quantum Radar on Scantrust radar mount. Opted for the 6" mast instead of the 10". I believe I will be able to keep the recommended 6 to 10 degree angle while on plane. I will report how the radar performs up close.
- A pair of thru hull transducers - I saw a lot of discussions about where to put those without a clear outcome. I will share investigations.
- AC without genset. Opted for a stand alone circuit. I will see if I need to install anything else in the future, but adding 400 to 500 lbs genset to be used a couple of days a year didn't make it to the list. Time will tell!
Good sailing to all!

On my regular 895 (not a sport) the two thru hull transducers are installed through the hull in the area just aft of the salon door. This is where the main cockpit storage area is accessed via the cockpit floor door. This area has a plywood floor above the hull that is the floor of the storage area. Is provides protection of the transducers and wiring from the storage area. This is an ideal location on the regular 895. The transducers are far enough forward on the stern to be well away of propeller interference and far enough aft to be in “clean” water when cruising on plane.

Capt’n Lynn Hi Capt’n Lynn Thanks for sharing. i did look at this area but was unable to lift the floor of the main locker. 4 screws and some Sika. Removed the screws but even with wood chisels wouldn’t move!!! Let it go by fear to damage the box. Did you happen to find balsa wood in the sandwich while installing the through hull? Thanks again for the feedback. Idefix

If it can helps you, this is my installation, 16" Simrad unit. It looks really great i highly recommend to install a big screen. I would consider to go with the second option you shown in your pic (Yamaha screen unit moved below). One option to close the holes could be to pre-cut a carbon fiber panel to apply there, i think will be nice and matching some of the other features of the boat.

Your instal looks great and yes, I agree the large screen is worth the hassles. Would you mind sharing a pic of where did you install the VHF on your Sport? Thanks

Hi Idefixsc, 250xvb? F250B new version or previous F250A? F250B has an integrate auto pilot and new controls and display, electric steering and some upgrade on the gearbox.

Hi My mistake for the typo F and LF250XCB the new version just released. Those are the XCB compatible with the existing pre rig and not the XCA which you describe also never hear of the integrated auto pilot. the big difference between the 2 versions is really that previously the command controls had to be bought as an add on and now it’s standard. Beside the design and the changed exhaust if course. Hope this helps!

Hi Idefixsc, Is your NC895 sport is 2021? If yes, is it possible to take a picture of the boat name plate ( rated power, load, CE rating....)

Hi idefixsc, Ok for a picture, on the NC895 sport, the Merry Fisher 895 Marlin sold in America but build in Poland, for the 2020 and 2021 build in 2020, there is an error on the nameplate for power and CE B load rating, it is written 260kW instead of 372kW as per the Merry fisher 895 Marlin. It is why I am looking to see a 2021 build in 2021. Thanks

Well! It might not help a lot as this boat is a 2020 built in late 2019. It does look a little far out from your research. I can always take a pics next time I am visiting the harbor. Be safe on the water

This a follow up on the previous thread. Boat is now complete and I will post various issues on different threads. The display worked out the way it was supposed to. Installed the Raymarine Axiom Pro 16, and we had to move the Yams display to a new location. We used the cut out to install the Raymarine P70 for the autopilot. To cover the gap between both display we cut a piece of black plexiglass which really goes unnotice. DISPLAYStereo and speakers where mounted atop the windshield and the VHF on the starboard side of the helm. VHFInstallation went pretty smoothly except that for the VHF and the stereo you have to run the wires all the way to the back of the salon and back again to the helm. Minimum 15 to 20' of wire, so check your equipment to choose the load on the wire. Idefix

Hi, Engine power? Zipwake? Do you have some run with? First impressions? Hi, Apologies for the very late answer! First impressions with twin Yam 250 XCB - Boat is a little on the heavy side, so need to kick 4600 rpm to get it on plane. - Performance: I am getting 32mph at 3600rpm and 38mph at 4200 rpm (which the sweet spot for me). - WOT I am closing on 50mph (48mph).
The boat handle very well in general, however this is not a CC, so 3 to 4 wave will required dropping your speed to 25mph (which is really the limit of the planning speed. But, hey you can't have it both ways, roomy interior and knive sharp hull shape, something has to give.
I had a CC before, and honestly I passed the age of the pounding provided by 30mph in 4 foot waves. Been there, done that... no thank you, so perfectly happy with the 25mph. The spacious bow and the extensive wood working will also make the boat noisy bouncing off the wave. This is increased by the pilot house. But once again, you can't have it both ways! When a storm hit (about every day during summer time in the South East) you see all the CC running for cover while you open a beer in the pilot house and wait for it to pass.
Overall a great boat good at a lot of things but not excellent in any of those. I guess that is where the tag line "SUV of the seas" fits well!

Hi, 4 pics are showing fiberglass work, why are you showing them? Hi nc The pics where uploaded for a previous post. They are made to illustrated the fiberglass work to set the transducers in order to reinforce the glass where there is balsa as well as creating a support in the gasket to mount the radar. I chiot not to go with factory option including an arch and a search light but rather to have a radar pod mounted flush to the gasket. Since there is no reinforcements at this location I made one.

I installed BOSS speaker after blowing the factory speakers in our new boat after the second time out... the Jensen radio put out too many watts for the 2 x 50 watt speakers that came from factory. It's compact enough to fit in tight places versatile full function did not need to install an amp was able to install in 20 minutes in a homemade project. Was blown away at how awesome it sounds.
