Hi Jeanneau folks,
We bought a 39i Performance this summer which we are for the most part happy with. One disappointment is the thin or soft varnish on the woodwork. After a few weeks of use the wood trim around the sink is worn and we have lots of scratches.
Any experience out there on what type of varnish to apply and method to obtain a more durable surface?
Many thanks Joakim

Hi Joakim Yes we have have the same issue on our 2008 39i right from delivery (indeed there were several knocks in the fiddle edge when she was delivered). The new 2009 models that have the "STEP" restyled interior has a much more durable looking wooden (not teak) finish on the galley We have complained to the factory via our dealer, but so far just a deafening silence. I suspect we will get a local craftsman to refurbish the fiddle rails with a polyurethane treatment Malcolm Serica of Woodbridge

Hi Joakim
Same as Malcolm - exactly. New 42i varnish so soft you can rub it off with a finger nail. I am pushing the factory for this and a number of other probs. They say they will resolve all issues. Don't hold your breath but I will post the result.

Thanks Malcolm and Bill, seems a common problem on the 2008's. I'm gonna follow up with the Jeanneau dealers and members here in Sweden. Will post any findings.
