Many of the electric panels that Jeanneau fit now have a reverse polarity LED indicator to show that the boat is wried correctly - this is critical for the RCB to function Confusingly though, I tested my sockets with a DIY 240v polarity tester and that is showing the L and N wires are reversed, but the panel doesn't Anyone else tested their system independently ? Hello Malcolm,
The indicator light representing reverse polarity is simply a light between the Neutral and Earth connection on the distribution panel. If the Neutral and Earth are not connected together back at the shore power distribution point, this light will illuminate. I had a similar situation occur when I hooked up a small generator that did not have any Earth/Neutral reference. In other words Active and Neutral were floating with respect to earth. By connecting the Earth to Neutral at the generator this little issue was resolved.
It is concerning that the DIY checker indicates polarity reversal as the wiring to the sockets after the distribution panel may possibly be reversed. This is surely unlikely but I guess possible.
Regards,
Trevor
