Depends on where you are located and the rules in that area. In the USA coastal waters, it is 3 miles or more. No dumping in rivers and inland waters

Sorry, I can't help you with that. I'm not familiar with the SO 37. Our has a discharge hose the bottom of the tank that goes to a thru-hull valve that you open and is gravity flushed.

Do you have a 2 or 3 berth model? I have the 2 berth and the overboard dump is the large valve directly under the head sink.

I think it fair to say that if there is no large diameter hose coming out the bottom of the tank you do not have a dump facility. If you do have such a hose follow it to the skin fitting on the hull and there should be a valve somewhere in the line.

On our 41DS the holding tank is simply in line between the toilet and the skin fitting valve. Valve open - toilet flushes to sea; valve shut - holding tank fills up. There is no 'separate' drain pipe for the holding tank.

Not sure on the 37 but my 40 under the sink in the head should have a series of valves that let water in the the head when you pump it and a valve for the sink drain and a valve for the shower pump and a valve for the holding tank. You need to climbi in under the sink and figure out what is there and what it is for.
NOW for dumping off shore --I am currently in Grenada and they are strictly 3 nm off shore. In Turkey no and i mean no dumping in Turkish waters. You must have a blue card and use a pump out and if not and the CG stops and checks you i hope you got a lot of money.
So where are you?
