I have separate side by side freezer and refridgerator/freezer. I want to add additional insulation to both. My first choice is to access all sides and glue in sheets of closed cell foam. But access is hard for me to figure out. It looks like I can remove the stove/oven to access most of the refridgerator but the hull side of fridge and freezer are the problems as well as the salon side of the freezer. I started to remove various wood panels at the Nav station area but didn’t make much progress toward what I need. My plan “B” is to drill one or two small access holes and spray in some insulating foam. I can plug the holes with something like a stainless cap if wood area and some white stuff if I need to drill a hole through the counter top. Anyone have any ideas or success stories? How much should it help reduce electricity draw? Any suggestions on best way to access the hull sides of these boxes? Sorry no pictures available together now.

Fifteen years ago I had bad luck with that type of product, wherein the material seemed to "set up" at an uneven rate. It built up a dam close to the access hole, preventing full application and leaving a large void with no foam. There may be better products out there now, but generally I suspect that the closer to the centre of the void that you create the access hole, the better result you will have.

I wonder if going down the road of removing the entire worktop and getting in amongst the fridge and freezer would be best? Sure there was a post where someone relplaced their worktop, could be a starting point.
I never did manage to get my small freezer from frosting up, even after replacing the seals with Jeanneau ones, so both fridge and freezer end up with water at the back by the hinges that freezes up. Do you have the same issue?

There is an impressive change out of the worksurface on a 36i only shows one photo though of the fridge insulation but may give you an idea of what's entailed, but now looking it closer it appears that the fridge space is within a full moulding, so still will be hard to add significant additional insulation... www.jeanneau-owners.com/hintsandtips/corianworktop.html

Thanks for the tips and photos. The installation seems a bit different of course on different boats. I have a separate deep freezer next to the fridge. I have looked around with a small flexible camera and I see room between the units and the cabinetry. There seems to be a very small thickness of sprayed on insulation around each unit. It’s starting to look like this project will be put off until I need to take things apart for some other reason or have a lot of time on my hands. Soon I plan on pulling out the stove and wood panel between that and the refridgerator. Hopefully that will allow me to see what room there is.
