Virtual sailing during Covid 19 outbreak I have started this sub-board at the good suggestion today from Alex1949. I am thinking it could be "virtual sailing" chat whilst many of us cannot get afloat, but feel free to expand into other areas if desired. I would just ask people to remain factual, tolerant and supportive as always. Looking forward to your thoughts, ideas and responses. Best wishes to all. Malcolm Hi MalcolmP, where and how are you doing those gray days ?.... ...I wonder if you can try and make our people talk to each other through this web,it may support and help during those hard days. Just let them talk about their daily action. Take Care Alex1949

In the Netherlands, there is no lockdown yet, although that might change soon.
So hereby some footage of last weekend:

Thanks Element for sharing your great video. Love the extended spray-hood for winter sailing and also envious of your teak grating in the cockpit. Always interesting comparing upgrades.

Thanks.
The extended sprayhood is predominately a cockpit tent. But we asked the sailmaker to make it suitable for sailing in cold or wet weather. Therefore it ends just before the steering wheels and the backside can be completely zipped out.
The teak cockpit gratings were installed by the previous owner. Not sure of I like them. The good and bad thing about that is that dirt gets underneath.
The previous owner did a lot of upgrades like conversion to a German sheet system for the main sheet. This winter, we did a lot upgrades for longer distance cruising such as adding solar panels and a removable inner forestay for heavy weather sails. I might post some details about these upgrades in a separate threads later.

Yes dirt is a perpetual issue. The gratings visually look good to me but I understand the problem, still I seem to be always cleaning our cockpit GRP floor... What is your German mainsheet system like? I converted ours along while ago, overall really like it, but takes some getting used to. This is the conversion I did. www.jeanneau-owners.com/hintsandtips/retrofitgermanmainsheet.htmlWould be interested to see your other upgrades

In the Netherlands, there is no lockdown yet, although that might change soon. So hereby some footage of last weekend: Great video! We have had our 39i away once so far. We are following social distancing rules, and many businesses are shut down and people staying home. None of that will stop us from using our boat because we are able to access it without traveling far, or coming into contact with people. The weather, on the other hand, is not cooperating this weekend. Lots of rain, and zero wind! The rain doesn't stop us because with our cockpit enclosure we don't even need wet gear! Still, I look forward to sunny weather and folding the bimini back! Sailing from inside a plastic bubble just isn't the same!

I have only just started playing it, but it looks like fun. If anyone else is playing I am using my boat name, Azura as my handle.

I am lucky to be able to sail in these strange times, but when we were locked out of the marina I found some amusement with an App called Dock your boat. I find mooring is one of the challenges where the better it goes the less of an audience you have ....... and it doesn't always go quite as planned, .. virtual practice with no chance of hull damage is good, and the mental planning is the same even if the actual experience can never be replaced.
Sailed my last boat from Hamble to Pwllheli to get it home after purchase with the cockpit enclosure up, bit un nerving not to be able to watch the main sail but at 3am in early April it came into its own keeping us warm and dry through the nights, 4 days and nights later we got home , figured marquee sailing might be good and extend the season. immediately got one for the Jeanneau but yet to covid cruise with it up.
