HELP ! Can somebody help me with my PHRF ? I own a Sun Odyssey 45, year 2007, shallow draft, mainsail 541 sq.ft, Genoa 588 sq.ft. I think they are cheating me at my yatch club with a too low handicap. I live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (Caribbean) I am racing in 2 weeks and have not been able to prove them what my phrf should be. Will appreciate your help very much.

Looking at US Sailing Hi-lo-ave ratings on page 44, it appears that SO45's range from 75 to about 100 in PHRF ratings. So not sure where you fit, but this would/should fit about right for a 45' boat. Now the other question, is can "YOU" sail her to her ratings?!?!?!?!?! Anyway, hope the link helps etc. marty

Thanks a lot Marty. Do you know the difference between a SO-45.1 and 45.2 ? I do not find that in my records. I bought my boat in France. Regards from Santo Domingo. Ramon

Ramon
My understanding is that they are exactly the same hull and the difference are down changes to the interior, but maybe more knowledge SO45.1 or 45.2 owners may be able to answer more specifically

Malcolm, somebody just told me it means the year of built, before 2001 or after. Thank you.

Malcolm, somebody just told me it means the year of built, before 2001 or after. Thank you. Ramon I don't agree, but then Jeanneau model numbers are not very helpful From our owners database I believe the model years are something like: SO45.1 1995-1998 SO45.2 1998-2003 SO45 2004-2008 (very different model) Malcolm

Ramon,
I would agree with flightdeck, what is your current rating and 4 digit code. Myself, I have a rating of 195, with a 5625, base is 189 with a -3 for a large jib, +9 for the small spin so 189-3+9= 195
Also, do you have a "t" or some such letter after your rating. If so, it is a temp #, and a swag by phrf, to verify what you boat sails at. Do you pay fees to phrf? or is it a club only rating? If you pay fees, you can petition you rating, if not, you are stuck with what you have until you start paying dues/fees.
