Well, i've decided to change the motor mounts on my 1986 Sun Legende's Perkins this next winter. BUT, I do i get to the rear port one? That one seems to be so out of reach.
Anybody changed theirs and how did you go about it?
Thanks guys.

Depends on if you have the owners version with one aft stateroom or not... Speaking for the owner's version, you have to remove the curved piece of wood separating the engine from the cabin. It should only be a handful of wood screws into cleats and you'll have plenty or room. If you've got that already there should barely be enough to stick a wrench in. I have to do the same job since the previous owner replaced the front but not the rear mounts. I was able to put a wrench in there and get a bit of a turn on it... with some difficulty. Best of luck, I'm right behind you. Also, with the prop shaft disconnected you can jack up the aft end of the motor as you go to help with access.
Be careful not to misalign your shaft or side load it in the process!
Best Regards, Devin

Hi Devin
Good to hear from you again, how is the Dawn Treader project going?
I took a look at your recent photos, the paint finish looks stunning, no doubt she will be much better than new when finished, will there be anything original left?
look foward to an update when you get the time

I've got the owner's version. I figured removing the rear curved partition had to be done. I've taken it out before when i worked on the engine 2 winters ago. But the more I look at it, i wonder if removing the exhaust tube and rear starter cover is also necessary. The prop shaft will be disconnected. It's going to the shop to be checked-out.
