I have a 2010 33i that is mainly sailed on the Chesapeake. I would like to install air conditioning and after doing some research, it seems like a 16k is what will be required.
I have seen many 33i's up for sale that say they have a Dometic 16k unit and they look to have the air return vent in the port bench adjacent to the table. However, from the dimensions I have seen, the unit wont easily fit.
Does anyone have advice on this or better yet photos of the AC unit installed on a 33i.

On my prior 39 ds had a 12k ac unit located under star settee. So a 16k unit should serve you well. Expect you will want to split outflow ducting to salon and rear berth. I now have 44ds and boat is located southern Lake Michigan. On the warm nights we just run the salon unit, which is only ducted to the main cabin and we stay comfortable in the rear berth.

I have a 9k unit on my SO 35, so 16k for a 33i might be overkill. We're on Lake Ontario, so quite a bit further north. But we've been quite comfortable on the few days it was over 100F.

Where I am, it gets very hot and humid for extended periods and based on other boats in the area, 16k should be about right. My main concern however is fitment. Even with the sizes listed on smaller units, I cant see it fitting in the port bench of a 33i where others seem to have them located.
