Hi all, Sea Otter a 2000 SO 37 shoal draft has successfully sailed from San Francisco to French Polynesia.
The main passage to arrive in the Marquesas was 3200nm and took us 23 days. The performance, stability and behaviour of the shoal draft as an ocean going yacht was surprisingly good. Now sitting in Tahiti due to keep heading west, we are very happy with this boat as a cruising yacht. Just a shame about the transom design and the constant slapping with any form of waves or ripples when the stern is face on them. It vibrates through the whole boat and sounds as if the transom is going to be pounded off!! Such a shame - bad design.
Otherwise were bound to take here home to Brisbane in Queensland, Australia by December this year.
cheers Karen
