I have had confusing figures for the racing handicap of my new Sun Odyssey 36i standard. Has anybody got a sensible figure for this model boat, our race officer thinks it should be about 1.00 or even 0.99. Help!

While I do not know IRC that well, looking at PHRF ratings used in the US mostly, a 36' Jeanneau can be as fast as a 100 to a slow 140 or there abouts. 100 phrf is about equal to 1.000 IRC. Then 110 would be in the .9xxx area. My boat is a 188 local, which equates to a .875 or somewhere there abouts from what i have seen etc.
Personally, a std 36i, 1.00 seems a bit fast, A SO36iP possibly could warrent a .9xx to a 1.00, as most SF35's are .995-.998, with SF37's in just over 1.xx. I am sure you boat is slower than these two by a bit.
Good luck

I'd agree 1.00 a sounds a little high, 0.985 - 0.990 probably a bit more sensible. If in doubt though, just do a self measurement IRC form
