Hello, does anyone have any experience with using a Mercury outboard on a Jeanneau? I am looking at a used 795 and very few are available in the UK but I have located one with a Mercury Verado 200 1.7L Supercharged outboard. The boat was originally supplied and registered in Germany and they may have different engine combinations. The engine gets good reviews but most UK boats are fitted with Yamaha and therefore would welcome any feedback. Thank you in advance.

Hi jackfrost, I think it is no difference. Think that the choice of the outboard is a personal decision in 90%. Saw more cap camarat boats with Verado then MF, but must say that I was surprised in positive way in low noise and high performance of Verado. Think that the consumption is higher for Mercury, but u get more performance. Our last boat has Mercury Optimax, non of the people around like it, service was difficult, but there was a real raw power getting out - not to mention the noice was also recognized ... Few weeks ago I saw a new MF 795 withe “new” Suzuki 200 V6. Ask a dealer to let me know about the performance of it. The mechanics said that it is an old V6 as they made in past, nothing new... BR, Primoz

Thank you Primoz, Jeanneau obviously use Yamaha as a partner for all advertising and therefore it seems Yamaha is the more common engine of choice. It is difficult to get an honest opinion but I heard a great bit of advice this week, I was told all outboards from Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki are good and to a lesser extent so are Honda and therefore the best way to chose your outboard is to pick which colour you like most! Not sure I will choose using that method but thought it was funny.

All the 795's here on east coast Australia are sold with Mercury outboards as default. I have Yamaha on mine but that was by special request. I think they both work well and it's just personal choice.
