Very interested in hearing from any 52.2 or 54 DS owners who have successfully found a design for stern davits (off-the-shelf or custom made) that solve the problem of not having the davit arm lifting points far enough aft for the tender to clear the raked transom during launch or retrieval.

We installed white aluminium davits from KATO Marine on our SO54DS, but you can't avoid dinghy touching transom while hoisting or launching.

Check out Ocean Marine Systems www.oceanmarinesystems.com/. Their arm has an adjusting extension (solid SS) which may solve your issue. I don't have the 52.2 or 54DS, but I purchased their Rail Mount davits and use it at the max extension to clear our transom. Very sturdy and very happy with it. The owner may also help you with customizing if that is what you need. Cheers!

mmike - are you referring to the VOYAGER davits like these? If so, did you mount them like this to the transom? How do you like them?

Hi JCODY, Yes, those are the ones we installed. We are happy with them apart from paint/corrosion protection could have been better. Our dinghy is a bit big, Highfield 340 w Honda 20. A 310 with a Yamaha 10 hp is probably better. We put the dinghy on deck on longer crossings. Compared to an arch, you don’t sabotage your aft view and it’s easier to use in combination with a hydraulic gangway. Plus they are the only ones that melt in with the boat design. M
