Anyone that can share experience on installation of the Raymarine ST6002 S1G autopilot and the Raymarine C80 plotter to the SO 39i? Is getting and sailing the boat home from Dunkerque in June, and plan to install these equipment myself first. Rgds Dag Øyvind Askheim

Hi Askheim,
I had the dealer fit an S1G and Standard Horizon plotter to my SO39DS (same hull I believe) - The installation of the S1G looks to be quite straightforward, with holes pre drilled in the rudder quadrant - just seemed to be a case of bolting the linear drive on to the aft bulkhead and fitting the rudder reference unit.
The S1G wiring diagram looks pretty straightforward though I have been told that it's critical that appropriately thick wiring is used to power the linear drive as there can be a high current draw.
Wiring up to the plotter is very straightforward if using seatalk.
The performance of the autopilot is superb when set to response level 4 or above - far better than I can achieve when helming by hand.
Hope this is of some help.
Regards

Thanks for your input, Steve, much appreciated. Some details regarding installation of the ST6002 autopilot to a 3 cabin version. (Try to prepare for the installation, before having the boat). - Have only looked at a two cabin version, with linear drive and sensor installed on starboard side. If you have a three cabin version, are these units installed on port side? - Where are the course computer and the fluxgate compass located?

Hi Askheim,
I have the 2 cabin version.
The compass is in the wardrobe in the aft cabin and the course computer has been fitted behind the heads in the lazerette on the port side.
The drive is also to port, with the sensor on the starboard side.
Not sure that this helps much however if you have further questions, I'll be happy to try and answer them.
Regards
Steve

Hello Askhelm, I was interested in how the linear drive is fitted to a 36i so I sent an email to the service section of Jeanneau in France and they very helpfully sent me a diagram showing how it all fits together when factory fitted. I was fairly impressed by the service so I suggest that maybe you could get some good information directly from them. Regards, Trevor
