Hey there Albi, the cruising chute is not actually attached directly to the boat, except with a halyard. from the tack you will run a line through a block on the bow, its this line that is the attachment, the length of the line is altered depending on which ( what?) point of sail you are on, when closer to the wind pull the tack line in, when off the wind let it out. Without wanting to advertise, I work for a sailbroker, if you want you can email me back channel and we can talk about your requirements- I dont think I am breaking any rules with this.....

Hi I am putting a cruising chute on my new SO36i and I have had the Seldon fittings added. You basically lose the port side front fairlead and it is replaced with an O bracket through which the (small) pole is put. A line then runs up the pole and back to the cockpit, this enables the clew to be eased as the wind goes aft. I got my cruising chute from Lonton and Gray (Google them) in Burnham on Crouch in Essex, they are even coming onto the boat to show me how it all goes together. Their price included the snuffler. Hope this helps. Geoff.
