The stanchion base plates on my 2007 36i are corroding and pitted as you can see in the pic below. My local Jeanneau dealer has pretty crappy parts support. Does anyone know where I can get replacements? Is this a Jeanneau part or is there an OEM? Thanks David

They're corroding away leaving rust streaks on my deck. I clean it off with rust remover but the plates are pitted and some of them look pretty ratty. I need to remove my lifelines for a project so I thought I'd replace these while I'm doing it.
Thx David

Hi David, Is your rope that secures the netting the cause of the problem? I have not had any problems on my boat with the staunchion bases although the fairleads in the teak to rail are prone to staining and minor pitting.

Hey Sitara,
Thanks for the reply, I don't think it's the rope. The pitting tends to be on the lower part of the plate where contact with water is most likely. The rope where it touches at all is along the top. If the rope was the problem I would expect extensive corrosion where there was contact. I'll try to get a picture of the corrosion that I'm referring to.
B.t.w. the rope is there to secure the nets since we have wooden and not aluminum toe rails (sigh). The nets looked weird to me when I first put them on there. I installed them to keep my kids from going overboard but I have to say I've come to really like them. They still look weird but they not only keep kids aboard but also tools, random clothing, fishing gear etc. I recently sacrificed a fish bat to Neptune and I was a little annoyed. It's rare that we lose anything overboard these days.

Looking at the picture I posted above I noticed a small pit on the plate. There are others that are worse but you can see an example of what's going on.

Both Jeanneau and Beneteau use the same stanchions on their smaller models. If your Jeanneau dealer is no help, then try your local Beneteau dealer. In North America, I have had good service by going straight to Jeanneau in Marion, S. Carolina.

Hello, it is the plate underneath the deck and holding the stanchion that is rusting away. It is not stainless steel.

Came here just for the same recommendations. I know where to get the usual barrier stanchions , but don't have any single idea where to buy stanchion base plates, Amazon and eBay searches gave no results. Would be grateful for relevant advice.

Hi Oscar, I haven't done anything about the problem I'm afraid. When I posted the request I was in the midst of a project that required me to disassemble my lifelines so I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone. But I missed the opportunity and it would be a big hassle at this point. The Jeanneau America web site lists the part as "Stanchion base D25 NM" and claim to have them in stock for $21. Part number 067155. I suggest you contact your local Jeanneau dealer. David
