I'm trying to pull the OEM 2-blade Radice propeller and replace it with a Kiwi feathering prop, on a SO34.2. I got the anode off fairly easily, but have not yet succeeded in removing the nut behind the prop. I did bend back the washer that's folded into one side of the nut, though perhaps not fully, and soaked the nut with WD-40. Does anyone have wisdom to share on propeller extraction? I'm nearing the end of ideas and about to let the boatyard's service department have its way with my cash reserves.

Normally you can wedge a large piece of wood between the prop blade and the hull, that stops it rotating, you will need a long handled wrench to undo the nut. as you say make sure the tab washer has been fully and smootlhly bent back.
To get the prop off you will need a hydraulic puller , in my experience it is unlikely you will remove the prop with a simpler one. Stand back they go off with a lot of force

Thanks, Malcolm,
The block of wood was the key to getting the prop nut off, but, as expected, I got nowhere at prop removal with a "velvet hammer". Since I have neither a prop puller nor the time to procure one, I'll just have to pay the yard staff to do it for me in order to make next weekend's launch schedule and avoid hauling the boat later. Today's Chicagoland inland temps approaching 80° F only increase one's impatience for the sailing season to begin, though at the lakefront it was barely 60 and the water nowhere near that warm.

I recently removed the old fixed 2 blade prop without a puller. The trick is that you need to heat the prop where the shaft passes through it. I used a portable small butane torch and heated all around the shaft for a good 10-15 minutes. Once it was hot (even the blades were pretty hot to the touch), I used a rubber mallet to whack away and it came right off. Good luck!

I assume you got the new Kiwi flex prop on. What are your experiences with it? Does if cavitate and I assume you have more power in reverse. Thinking of getting one for our SO 37. Thanks
