Since I have purchased my boat the dealer has asked me if I would make the boat available for sea trials for other prospective buyers since they are so scarce.
I was leaning toward being agreeable to that, if I was in town and it did not become too intrusive.
Fast forward to next week when I have scheduled delivery. I asked him if he was going to launch the boat with me and go through the systems for a commissioning. His reply was "We do it in our parking Lot and send you off to do your own thing. You have owned boats before haven't you?"
Since I am reading that others are having dealer problems, and my purchase has been less than perfect, I have to wonder WTF?
They do not want to sea trial a boat to they just sold but they want the purchaser to sea trial for other Buyers?
I just don't get it, being a Sales Manager by Profession, why this whole purchase process is so painfull for Us?
Makes me wonder what kind of service I will let get for warranty and repair services and why I would ever refer or buy another boat from them?

Hope the delivery went OK and that the boat is fine. All I can add is that my dealer was very good, going a bit further than I expected and had several minor delivery issues fixed very quickly. Unfortunately most of us cannot choose our dealer and have to go with who is available.

This reminds me of when I bought a new house. A few weeks after moving in, the builder called to ask if he could show the house to a prospective buyer. I said sure, as soon as he gives me a date for fixing my punch list. I just wanted a date. Never heard from him again, literally. So my advice is, tell the dealer if he wants to show the boat, he needs to be there for the initial sea trial and commissioning.

Something is very wrong. They have warranty responsibilities and should want to confirm original condition. Bad feeling about how warranty repair will be handled.

Thanks for the comments. Due to wet, damp, and crappie spring weather, the bottom is not finished. I am going to try again this Friday.
Have not taken delivery yet.
