Hi! I'm new to the forum and I just bought my first Jeanneau boat. It's a prestige 36 from 2003. I'm trying find the best way to install a windlass in the strern. This is very common in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway. does anyone own a bought with such a setup? Or have experiances from such a installation? Any help is much appreciated and pictures is very helpful!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Magnus,
Have not seen such an arrangement on a 36 but several on Scandinavian boats.
Do not see any major problem as long as a secure mounting point can be found.
I can only think of two options:
1) On the port side of the bathing platform adjacent to the folding boarding ladder. The platform is quite strong here although Jeanneau advise no more than 3 people at a time on the platform - and spread out at that. The other side is no good as it would obstruct access to the lifeboat storage.
2) On the top of the transom there are two moulded semi-circular pads which are designed for retractable davits. If these are not being used either would make and ideal loading point as they are out of the way and reinforced. If the starboard side pad were to be used this would also allow a clear way in through the transom door.
Sorry I can't offer any other ideas.
Good luck,
Napoleon
