Noticed these cracks after cleaning, seems I been sailing like this since I bought my boat 2 years like this, it survived F8 winds on numerous occasions, wonder if I should be worried....as it seems to me this was caused by over tightening the lower bolt then stress cracks... Any comments welcome, don't want to replace this as it seems this part alone is £400! Thinking of drilling extra holes and inserting bolts to hold ot Attachment Deleted

I would atleast make a min. 5mm thick plate that slides over the existing one and run the bolts through both plates , and the deck ofcourse. Easy to make a paper/cardboard template '
Good luck.

I was thinking of drilling additional holes on each side and bolting it down, or a plate on top, I'm puzzled how these cracks occurred, the only thing I can think of is over tightening...as I would expect the cracks to be elsewhere if this was caused by forestay ripping the plate out...

I would have thought it would be a good idea to take it off and clean it up to check for any other cracks, weld it up and remount with extra reinforcing

I understood you don't want to take the old fix off , so a plate on top and perhaps a backplate under the deck ( if not already present ) would most certainly give you the peace of mind you look for. Yes I think thats the best way forward without taking the forestay off, I cant take the bolts off and place a stainless plate as it would pull with the forestay, so Im thinking additional bolts and a plate to hold it down, d**n boats never ending spending....
