We added a line capstan to the existing chain windlass. Quick supplied the longer shaft and capstan for less that $500 and the installation took about 1 hour. You will need a Retaining-Ring Pliers to get the split retainer rings out. You will not have to remove the existing windlass, just pull out the shaft, put a new on it and install the capstan. That's interseting. I just checked and Affinty came with this already fitted. Is this an EU/US difference in specification I wonder?

When we bought the boat, the standard was without a capstan...a detail we missed. This windlass is no longer made so we were glad Quick still had the conversion kit in stock. IT's nice to have a stressless project go well & end well! We'll post more as we continue our final projects before casting off the lines in October for the Caribbean!
