We have a Jeanneau DS40 with a Yanmar 4je3e engine. We have 4,700 hours on her and getting ready for a hard summer on sailing. In going over the engine it was noted that the oil cooler had a small water leak. Pulled it today and found the end is not good. In addition, some 3 years ago we replaced our impeller as some blades were missing. Found them in the end of the oil cooler. We did change out the impeller this year and no issues as the impellor looked good and was put back in inventory as a back up. hopefully here are some pics

My 4JH3E (don't you mean that also) has done just under 1800 hours. No sign of leaks and is looking good at the moment.

We had a similar experience- impeller blades from several seasons ago caused the oil cooler to get clogged. I'd suggest checking the condition of the oil cooler and the heat exchanger be part of semiannual maintenance. The cooler was also dripping, so it had to go. Replaced the cooler, boiled the heat exchanger and replaced the impeller- all good now!

Maybe this would be a good time to ask where you got your copy of the 4JH3E manual from? Google only seems to bring up the 4JH3E-TE, 4JH3E-HTE and 4JH3E-DTE manual.
I did find another that says it's for the 4JHE and inside says 4JH(B)E as well as 4JH(B)E-TE, 4JH(B)E-HTE and 4JH(B)E-DTE. I'm guessing that the (B) is 3 on mine, but would be great to know if this is that case or not.
We have over 6000+ hours on ours, so it is not beyond the realms of possibility that a major rebuild is looming. It does run like a charm though!
Cheers, PT.
