Hi, will be bringing my boat back to the UK, from The Algarve, this year and for obvious reasons will be wanting to fit a heater. I will choose the Eberspacher as a result of having previous experience of using these heaters. My only problem is the siting of the unit and the only obvious place appears to be in the portside rear locker. This would be fine other than the obvious problem of the length of the heater hose runs to the cabin and possibly the forward cabin. Has anyone out there fitted a similar heater to the 36i, if so it would be appreciated if you could provide me with the layout ie. siting of the unit and heater hose runs. Thanks John.

Just did one on my 33i and I believe the recommended route is the same.
Eberspacher d4 in port lazarette. 90mm duct runs down port side under locker floor through heads locker and under port seat to 90 mm outlet. I added 60 mm take off in lazarette for aft bunk. One I. The heads with a selectable y valve that allows the hairdryer attachment to be used. One other takeoff into the fwd cabin under the wardrobe. Air intake is in the liferaft locker and is 75mm. Getting a 75mm intake vent that will flow enough air is difficult. If I did again would use 90mm. Exhaust comes out of sugar scoop as high as possible.
Other things to look out for
Ducting needs insulating for the uk
Must use 90mm for length of run.
Insulated exhaust will not burn the ensign but the gas coming out will burn a blue one!
Thermostat cable will need extending. If used the 801 digital which is excellent unless in bright sun when it heats up and gives incorrect temperature. Fault diagnosis feature is. Rey useful.
Ducting costs a fortune. As does insulation.
If you fit the fuel take off at anchor make sure you have a magnet for when you drop the pick up into the tank.
If you use the copper fuel pipe the pump will be noisy.
Hairdryer costs £20 extra but keeps the women happy. When you sell it the man coming to see it already wants the boat. It's his wife you have to sell it to.
Will put a DIY together once my back sorts itself out and these winds die down.

Thanks for that information, it is just what I needed. It was the length of the heater hose that concerned me, but it looks as if the D4 will cope with heat to the forward cabin. Hope the back improves soon and I look forward to receiving more of your do itself advice. Thanks again, John.
