I'm looking to extend my anchor chain and do not have the windlass manual to hand. Can anyone advise whether I need iso or din766 10mm calibrated chain for this windlass? Thanks Andy Edit: Does anyone use the Crosby c-link with this windlass? Will it pass through the gypsy?

Andy, I used a 10 mm short link chain on my SO36i and have had no problems with it running through the gypsy. The only hassle I have is with the chain heaping up on the slope below the windlass in the anchor well. I am planning to put some teflon sheets below the windlass which hopefully will aid the cain in packing down.
I have used 40 m of 10 mm link chain plus 100 m nylon rope. This together with a full front water tank does hold the bow down.

Thanks Rob. I also have 27m of SL chain, as supplied by Jeanneau, which I'm looking to extend to 50m. According to the iso/din link in my OP there are two common calibration standards for 10mm chain and I'm not sure which I need. The wrong type can make the chain jump off the gypsy, apparently. More hereTeflon sheet to inhibit bunching is a good tip, which I will try. Cheers Andy

Andy, I just looked at the chain page on the Quick windlass website. The chain that they supply which is presumably the correct one for their gypsies has for 10 mm chain a pitch of 30 mm (inside length of link). The type is specified as ISO (no number supplied). I would do a quick measurement of your existing chain and make sure the new one is the same (assuming you are having no problems with the existing chain.)

For information, Quicknautica have confirmed by email the chain calibration as ISO for 10mm chain.
