As shown on the attachment, the trim around my salon windows has oxidized/disappeared. Jeanneau America indicated it's an "acrylic ink" but had no other advice other than to refer me to Goiot, who have been unresponsive. Anyone know what the fix is, where to get it and any tips on application?

We all share the same problem , I remember this topic was on the board some time ago , and I also remember that no real permanent sollution is at hand. The new paint fades away very rappidly. However this protection has a purpose , ...keeping UV rays away from the window glue.

Thx, Sailbleu; I'd seen the earlier post but hoped someone may have discovered a good fix in the interim.
Am I correct in assuming the 43DS windows are acrylic? If so, I'll go to my local plastics specialty store for paint advice. Thanks to any for additional guidance-- not only are they unsightly but I do worry about that UV issue & the window adhesive. Gene

Duh--bit of brain freeze there--of course they're acrylic; but, have folks had any good (or bad) experiences w/different finishes?

I am not sure that they are acrylic. I think they are lexan, which is a polycarbonate, not acrylic. They are VERY soft, so you can't use ANYTHING abrasive to clean them, which is typical of lexan. Lexan is much tougher than acrylic, though, and large windows like this would be a good application.

Sika make a special uv blocking tape. I seem to recall mailspeedmarine stock it. Haven't tried it on mine yet hoping for a volunteer first!

Thanks for reminding me about this thread--very helpful and reassuring re: the Sika UV resistance, at least on the 40. In response to my query to Jeanneau America, Gilles responded this AM as follows:
1. Our contact at Goiot is info@goiot.com 2. The SO43DS uses 295UV which is UV resistant. 3. The windows are plexiglass (PPMA)
Thus, buffing out the oxidized paint trim & going "bare" would have appear to have no bearing on the Sika uv & the fact they're plexiglass provides guidance re cleaning/polishing.
Thanks, all! Gene

Hi Had this problem two years ago and had to remove and re seal four of the curved cabin windows much of the parted bonding looked like moisture penetration as much as UV degradation but probably some of both I used automotive mat black trim paint with an acrylic fixer primer masked it all up and sprayed it bit of a job but two years on and looking very good I also increased the width of the band to ensure the sika flex is hidden from all angles as for the finish wearing off I am very careful not be to abrasive with the cleaning cloth and make sure there is any alga or salt build up in the crevices So far so good
