Admin note. The following has been translated from Michel's original posting as regrettably the terms and conditions of the Proboards site means that all posts must only be in English. I do think Michel's idea has merit though so if anyone is aware where a new French language forum might be established perhaps his idea might be progressed. Malcolm
Bonjour,
I am the owner of SO 42i performance based in the south of the France. I think that there would definitely be interest in an exchange using the French language.
I note that many boats on this site are based in France. It is often difficult for French speaking owners to converse "technology" issues in English.
Of what do you think of it? Would there be interest to other owners ?

I am the owner of a SO42i based in West Liguria (Imperia). I would like to share some impressions with you about the boat. As for the French translation, I read from the post that this would not be applicable, at least at the moment. I am generally satisfied of the boat, although I have not used it very much in strong conditions (maximum 20Knts). I think she is very performant, although I have (may be inappropriately) chosen a rolled mainsail. With a motor speed of more than 7 knots at 2200rpm, I think it is a very satisfactory performance. I would be glad if you would share some comments. Although I am more confident with English language, I can use French language as well (with more difficulty) if you prefer. Regards.

Hi, I' try to speak English. I'm very glad to have a SO 42i Performance. She's a jet plane ! The cruising speed with sails (sandwitch mylar-dacron) is more 8 knots when wind blow > 12 knots. I've a spi (135m2) asymetric ... speed 10 knots with 20 knots of wind (at 150°). The SO 42iP is a very easy boat. I'm going to create a Forum in French (http://jeanneau.1fr1.net/). It will be start in a few days. If you want, you can give me your comments. Thanks.

I am glad to hear from you. Unfortunately, I have used the boat not as much as I would have liked because she was delivered only in mid-July. I also have a very good opinion of the boat, either under wind or at motorspeed. I have sailed last week-end with weak winds (8-10Knts) with excellent performances (5-6 knots of speed). I would be glad to join your forum. If you need any personal information, I may be contacted by personal message.
Fair winds with your boat.
