I am considering purchasing a Code 0 foresail, together with a Selden CX furler and a Selden removable bowsprit. Has anyone any experience of the bowsprit installation on a SO 32i 2006 ?
Thanks in advance

If you are going to use a Code 0 on the Selden bowsprit you need to fit a bobstay.

Hi
We use a removable selden bow sprit on our s/o 37. Its great!!
When not in use we clip it on to the mast where the spinny pole should go.

If you are only going for a code 0 as opposed to a chute of any kind, you really don't need a bow sprit to have it work well - witness the current run of "9" model jenneaus which carry code 0's with no sprit. We are runnung a code 0 on a 379 with no extension beyond the anchor roller and it works fine because you are furling with each jibe.

Hi again
If you are hell bent on racing, then fly your code zero of the bow sprit as you can carry more sail. Otherwise no sprit is really required.
However, if flying a chute, it does go better of the sprit.

We fly an asym with the Seldon sprit on our 39i-Performance. Having researched the flying a Code 0 on the Seldon sprit, I was advised not to use a Code 0 by both Jeanneau and Seldon. When flying a Code 0, the Code 0 luff replaces the headstay and requires extreme tension that puts excessive stress on the roller mounting hardware and the sprit. The work around is attaching a bobstay in the bow to the tip of the sprit to counter the Code 0 luff tension. Newer model Jeanneau's have an extended anchor roller with a stainless steel with a built in stainless bobstay which offers the opportunity to attache either an asym or Code 0 to the flange. One sprit vendor said that with the new anchor roller, they will never sell another sprit for a new Jeanneau. Jeanneau does not offer an aftermarket anchor roller for our "older" model Jeanneau's.

I have a Code 1 which I run from the selden bowsprit Mine is from a Swedish sailmaker but is very similar to the code 1 from North. The sail is fairly similar to a code 0 except that it is made from spinnaker nylon. Because the nylon stretches you don't need the same amount of tension on the halyard as a code 0 and the stretching reduces the stress on the bowsprit when you are hit by gusts and as a result you can use the bowsprit unsupported. I've managed to sail at 60 degrees no problem in sub 5 knot winds which is partly what I have it for. I'm inclined to think that unless you need it for serious racing or perhaps if you sail in a light wind area and have a small self tacker, then I would go for the code 1 over the code 0
