I am fitting larger mooring cleats to my Sun Odyssey 50DS. This is because I believe the factory fitted ones are dangerously small and can cause mooring lines to get jammed between the horns and the teak deck. Also our stern cleats have started to work loose.
I have already managed to fit the 2 new bow cleats as access to the bolts is easy via the focsle. However I cannot work out how to change the 2 aft cleats and the 2 middle cleats as access to the bolts and backing plates would appear to be impossible because of the way the cabin furniture has been installed.
Has anyone already tried to do this? Any ideas gratefully received.
John

John, I curse the middle cleats on our SO37 because the sheets get caught around them and I kick my feet on them when dashing to the bow to retrieve the mooring buoy. When someone tells you how to get access to them I might remove mine. The Beneteau 36.7's have developed a set of chocks to stop ropes catching on the centre cleats and I might try that first. Pop up ones would be nice. David
