Jeanneau had their biggest display in may years (perhaps ever) at Strictly Sail Chicago last weekend, with the SO379, SO409, SO41DS, SO44DS, and another model that I can't remember at the moment.
Frankly, I was disappointed with all but the DS series. For the first time, the build quality of the Beneteau boats looked better (without minute inspection). Our major complaint with the 379 and 409 is the gap between liner and hull along the port openings - all manner of flotsam will find its way into that gap and down into the abyss. Think about small children with jelly beans - or worse.
Maybe it's just a matter of styling preferences, but the interiors of these boats just aren't attractive to us and seem more like inexpensive recreational vehicle interiors.
And we weren't dazzled by the Blue Jacket 40, either. Absolutely impeccable fit-and-finish throughout. But, like every other Tim Jackett designed boat we've been aboard, the interior volume is not exploited well.

Hi Karl-
I agree with you entirely about the new DS series. I currently have a 39DS and thought I wanted to upgrade to the 44DS. I saw it at the Annapolis boat show last year and was sorely disappointed. I loved the exterior styling and the ability to fit a self tacking jib. The interior, however, was a massive disappointment. I liked the aesthetics but the build quality was, at best, middling and the designers made the galley FAR too small. They sacrificed a functional galley for wide open space at the foot of the companionway steps. The 41DS continued the tiny galley trend. My hopes for the new 46DS (probably announced this fall) were so low that I ordered a 45DS in October. The 469 galley was also way undersized for a 46 foot boat.
My new 45 should be leaving the factory sometime in early April and I hope to have it in the water by mid-June.
