Hello All! New owner of a sunshine 36. we just moved it up from CA, and are digging into repairs before the warmer season here in the pacific Northwest.
I wanted to put a feeler out there to see if anyone has experience fixing up the old iron keel (centerboard style). ours is not in bad shape, but it looks like it has never been properly treated. we are taking the POR-15 approach (heard great success with this), then epoxy, fair, epoxy, bottom paint.... we have already dropped the centerboard, treated and faired it, and it looks brand new! now its time for the main keel...
Everything seems straight forward, except for cleaning out the trunk of the keel. its about a 4" wide section under the stub keel where the centerboard swings out from. we need to clean out this area, and plan to do so with a sandblaster. has anyone had any success with other methods???
also, are there any other Sunshine owners in the area out there? would be fun to see some other examples of my boat! thanks, mark-

There are at least 4 SS 36's that I know of. 3 are fins, one is a cb in Olympia. Altho that owner "mark" is now in S Vietnam following his "english" teaching spouse. Another is in Desmoines, Seattle and Anacortes to my knowledge. There are 4 Arcadia, ie 30' version tween Edmonds, Anacortes, Port Hudson and Vancouver BC that I also know of. Rumour has it one other in BC.
