As a new owner of a 2010 SO 36i, I am wondering what others have found most useful for storage of the one-piece poly dropboard/washboard. It pretty much fills the cockpit locker and precludes access to anything (such as lines) beneath it. There has to be a better way.
I am also wondering how to decode the HIN - if anyone knows - for hull number and date of manufacture.
Happy New Year!

Congratulations on the new boat and welcome to the Forum For the HIN decode try: www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htmlIf anything doesn't make sense repost, sure someone will help On quite a few Jeanneau's there are dedicated brackets for storage in the stern cabin vertically against the engine (IE behind cabin door) not sure if there is enough space on the 36i though If not previously we have had a sailmaker make a canvas bag (could be slightly padded) that way you avoid banging the hatch or boat when taking it below and it is safe to just store on a berth

Great boat choice. I have been delighted with mine. I have the 3 cabin version. An early mod was to install a simple washboard storage idea. A short piece of "L" profile wood moulding on the floor at the base of the heads wall to the lhs of the door. Add a simple turnbuckle at the right height and Bob's your uncle. I added some self adhesive felt to the lower "slot" to reduce slippage underway and to protect the washboard edge. The turnbuckle is made from 2 bits of wood (one turns, the other a fixed spacer) to match the teak woodwork in the saloon and bolted though the wall.
A photo will follow in the next day or so when I can find it!

In my three cabin SO36i I store the washboard in cabin next to the heads. It slides neatly between the cockpit locker mounding and the shelf on the hull side. I have made a cover for it that prevents scratches on the woodwork. We tend to use this cabin for extra sails etc so it works well.

If you have a space like that described by "sunset" then perhaps you could take the handle off the board as I have done on my SO37 and use the lock to secure the boards in place. If you look at the photo of my arrangement you will see what I mean. www.3gwiz.com.au/passion/blog/?cat=4Regards David

In our SO36i (2 cabin version), we stow the washboard in the internal locker (aft of the shower). Next to the engine wall, fit a batten to the floor with space to slot the washboard base; then screw eyes either side of the washboard (in line with the handle) so you can secure the board with a lanyard. Makes a secure, space saving stowage. Updated with a pic. This stowage also houses the infill piece for the port settee extension.

We put ours under the mattress (two cabin version) I removed the handle and a cutout in the wood panel under the mattress holds the lock. Under the mattress it can't scratch, and is secure.
Cheers,
Tom
