I am pretty sure this has been covered before however I would like to know how other people have fitted the galley screen. I have just had a quote for a screen at £200.00 and two brackets at £90.00 each, a total of £380.00. Are there any alternatives available or do I just bite the bullet and order? Thanks

Who gave you that quote? Jeanneau or a glazier?

Hi Sihall, I made up a plexiglass splashback for my SO36i as the factory unit was far too expensive and also prone to shattering. The whole unit cost about $65 Australian dollars. Search for the thread "Re: Exploding galley splash back SO35" and there are some details and pics there.
This has been fitted to the boat for a couple of months now and no problems at all. It is probably a bit lower than the Jeanneau design but works fine. Now I don't get yelled at for splashing the furniture!

Hi Si.....it wasn't a Jeanneau but on my previous boat a Hunter Ranger I installed a plexi splashback without using brackets by having holes predrilled in the splashback and using stainless dome headed bolts through the wooden lip. The splashback rested on the worktop and I sealed any gap [ a very microscopic one] with bath sealant. After 5 years it still looked like new with no water ingress. If your wooden lip/fiddle is even only 5 cm this should work, the bolts were hardly noticeable. Saved a lot of money !!! Ron
