During some routine maintenance on the switchboard, (cleaning switch/breakers) with CRC contact cleaner, I believe broke the water pump breaker as I toggled the switch back and forth several time. I also noticed from the back side of the breaker a piece of white plastic that moves in&out when the switch is turned from off to on. This piece no longer moves during the toggling.
Besides this issue several of the panel switches that are marked "FREE" are not toggleing the internal breaker when switching from off to on as well?
Is there a correlation to the two issues as I'm wondering if there is an internal lock that works when the breaker has a fixed potential and load? One observation is all switches have an associated LED that turn on when the switch is energized. It's not turning on either.
During my cleaning did I damage an internal lock that allows the breaker to connect when switching from off to on?
So, I'm a bit lost on this and would be greatful for any response on the above.
Also,
1) where can I find a parts list? 2) where can I find replacements?
On the distribution bus, (when tracing the lettered marked wire (ie. "S") from the back of the breaker panel to the bus), how are to wires released or inserted? Is it a matter if inserting a small flat head screw driver into a slot to release a metal clamp that allows the wire to be removed or inserted?
A web search for this company took me to a Frech site and I'm not able to figure it out. If there is a link to it, perhaps in English, please let me know.
Thank you in Advance, Brian

I'm not sure if you panel is different, but on my Scheiber panels in the past the actual breakers are standard electrical ones that are available at most stores. The panel has some circuitry for the LED status lights.

Zanshin. Tks for the reply.
The breakers are in a bank of four switches each. I'll need to replace the bank vs one breaker. The bank has upper and lower screw mounts that attach it to the backside of the switch board.
If you have a similar switchboard, in one of your older boats, and made individual replacements how did you manage the mounting?
Any idea on who best to contact and assume Jeannuea USA?
Best Regards, Brian

Brian - I never had multiple breakers mounted together on the 43 and 49, and only have multiple breakers on the AC panel on the current boat.
Perhaps the breakers are now different - do you have a picture or a link to picture?

Zanshin, I'll go on-line as well as a visit to Island Marine Chandlery here at Crown Bay in St. Thomas. It's good news that I should be able to replace these breakers with standard ones vs through the original manufacturer. Best Regards, Brian

I've been to that chandlery before and I'm sure they have those breakers - you just need to know what color toggles you want and what the Amps for the breakers are.

I had to replace the breaker for the Windlass last year. It's on the panel in the aft cabin but I think they are all made by ETA.
I had a problem getting hold of the correct ETA unit but eventually found a CarlingTech one that was similar. The mounting screw holes were a few mm out and the delay was slightly longer (actually better for the intended use).
Make certain that you get one with the correct spacing for he mounting screws. I can probably dig out links to the ETA and CarlingTech docs. Naming conventions are pretty complex, see examples below. You need to get correct model, connection type, orientation, colour, logo etc. if you want it to fit the pane and not stand out.
The original breaker for my windlass was ETA8345F01AU0T1282813 CD80V ETA 8345: Type No. for ETA breaker F: flange mounting, with round aperture with mounting nut M3 0: Without barrier 1: Single pole protected A: All poles with standard toggle (i.e. Actuator type) U: Stud terminals M6 = 125 A 0: without (i.e. Terminal hardware doesn't come with nuts) T1: Long delay DC 282813: Agency approval CD80V
Dimensions Depth: 49mm 1.89" (incl. switch in middle pos. 67.7mm 2.67") Height: 63.5mm 2.5" (top to switch in middle pos. 28.6mm 1.13") Outer holes: 52.4mm
Up On, Down Off
I replaced it with a Carling: CA1B0168106D2?
Carling C: Series A: Handle, one per pole 1: Single pole B: Series Trip (Current) 0: Without auxilliary/alarm switch 16: DC long delay (36 is long delay AC & DC) 810: 100A 6: Stud M6 threaded D or U: Actuator legend black with white On/Off (U is short toggle) ?: Mounting barriers i.e. M3 screws (2,B or D) ?: Agency approval
Dimensions Depth: 48.13mm 1.895" (incl. switch in middle pos. 66.93mm 2.64" or 61.85mm 2.44") Height: 65.01mm 2.56" (top to switch in middle pos. 28.6mm 1.13") Width: 19.05mm 2.062" Outer holes: 52.37mm Down On, Up Off

Mistroma, thanks for the reply. I am working on the switchboard now and after dismantelling the breakers discovered ETA as the mfgr. I sent them a note requesting help so let's see if they respond. I followed Zanshins recommendation and bought a Blue Sea Systems breaker but I now need to refit them into the panel. Screw holes and toggle do not align properly into the panel. I have several breakers to replace so I'm not sure I should use the Blue Sea vs identifying an alternate Co as you did. I'll check the Co you found to see if they have a version that requires less re-work. Best Regards, Brian

Zanshin, No issue. I'm at Nanny Cay doing a bottom paint and saw a box with your name on a box in Keith's office. Guess you are close by...enjoy the winds. Brian

I'll be at Nanny Cay at the end of next week, "Zanshin" is currently on the hard in the yard, you can drop by and say "hi" from me. Keith is getting a mail tonight with a splash-date-request and I'm also booking my flights tonight. Have you been to Mulligan's? That is more of a cruiser hangout than Peg Legs and the burgers are, as advertised, the best in the BVI.

All, interestingly I returned to the Budget Marine Chandlery and inquired about the specific breaker. Unbeknownst to me yesterday that there is a small stock of, almost 100%, ETA breakers on the rack. 100% would have included the terminal leg for the led indicator which can be jumpered from one of the other terminals. It so happened that a Jeanneau owner ordered too many of them and there are 7 extras. A bit pricy @ 53.20 each, reduced from 61.50, but I'm good to go. Apparently these ETAs are still available but hard to find. Think I'll buy the lot!
Zanshin, I'm launching tomorrow and heading back to Water Island...we'll cross paths if you are in STT. Brian
