Are there any tonic owners out there who have dimensions on the adjustments of risers for a trailer? I'm trying to find a suitable used one, but am not sure wether to get bunk boards or just use poppets (jackstands) on a flat trailer.

Hi Ritonic, I have not owned a Tonic 23 but had trailerables for 30 years before buying my SO 30, and have towed them over 30,000 km. I did a search for "tonic 23 sailboat" and got some great pictures of trailers though no dimensions. From my experience I would be very nervous about jack stands on a flat bed as there can be high tipping forces due to any bumps even if you only tow around the storage yard. You need some strong side supports well connected to the trailer and braced for side loads as your hull will be quite high. A lot depends on your launching method, do you have a deep ramp or do you use a crane? Do you intend any road towing?
I have always had double and quad rollers along each side, initially adjusted to be against the hull, then left alone, plus additional rollers under the keel to take the main weight. However this arrangement is set up to allow launching from the trailer, but my boats were only half the weight of the Tonic. Long padded boards approximately matching hull shape also work well if you float off or lift the boat off the trailer rather than rolling down the trailer. I hope this helps. rene460
