Can anyone tell me how to (where to?) obtain a service manual for the Yanmar 2GM20F engine? I tried several dealers but got no response. I paid a download fee at Tradebit but the file was corrupt and could not be downloaded. Thanks for your help.

You didn't say where you are located, but the Torresen people are usually very good about this sort of thing. They have all the manuals on their website - www.torresen.com. Not cheap...

I remember I also had difficulties finding a pdf variant for my Yanmark 4JH2E. (which I now have BTW if anyone should be interested...) I put all the pdf's I find in my dropbox account, so then I can reach the manuals wherever I am, in any computer and also in my phone. Well... as long as I have internet access I should admit :-)
It starts me to wonder, why can't we get this from Yanmar directly? Same goes for Jeanneau user manuals I think (but in all fairness, I mailed Jeanneau and they where happy to mail back drawings in pdf. Many plus's for that service attitude!!), and most of other boat equipments too.
Recently, I tried to get access at a website for drawings like handles, locks etc. Since I wasn't a manufactor they denied access! Could have helped me using their stuff in my boat, since I would know exact dimensions and could easiler design them in. Now they lost a customer...
In my proffesional work, I can find almost all details in reference manuals etc for almost any kind of chips a computer board might have. For some I need to register at the vendors website in order to get them but that is ok, as long as they give access to customers requests. (perhaps also sees it as a oppertunity to sell to more people? ;-) )
Why can't the yachting industry behave similar?
