I have been looking at picking up a 2nd hand Kiwi Prop for my SO40. Boat has the standard Yanmar 4JH3E 56HP, and I am wondering if anyone knows if it is RH or LH, and what the shaft size is?
Cheers, PT.

Last year I fitted a Flexofold for my SO40 which also has the 4JH3E
From my order I see I received 18x13-3 R bladeset ISO 30, 3-blade hub
So it is right hand prop and the shaft is 30mm ISO

Thanks Hoppy.
This is for a 17" KiwiProp. Looks like your Flexofold is 18" though.
Am now wondering if the 17" is going to be too small.
Cheers, PT.

I suppose the correct size depends on the props design. Kiwi prop and their dealers should hopefully know the correct size, so if they recommended 17" then hopefully it should be right.

You should definitely contact the Kiwi factory or local representative for recommendations. My 27 HP Yanmar is fitted with a 16.5 inch prop on my SO35. They will also recommend a pitch, which might make up for the fact that the 17" prop might otherwise be too small for your SO40.

Was looking through the Max Marine site and found the following; THREE BLADES PROPELLER YANMAR 4JH3E 56CV KM4A7° Hull No: 1 -> 34 3-BLADED PROPELLER 19X11 RH30 E13 YANMAR 4JH3E 56CV KM4A7° Hull No: 35 -> They have details for the Volvo also. www.jeanneauparts.com/en/index.php?cp_sid=135078000142f&cp_tpl=mainI've passed on the 2nd hand Kiwiprop, but will contact KiwiProp direct and see what their recommendation is. EDIT: According to the info on the Kiwiprop site here www.kiwiprops.co.nz/sizes-p6.htmlthe recommended size for the Yanmar 4JH3E is an OD of 18.5". Apparently this results in an OD of 19" when actually motoring. I guess the centrifugal force must throw them outwards on the pins that they rotate on. Thanks to all for your feedback. I've updated this thread with Kiwiprops recommendation just in case others come looking for the info later. Cheers, PT.
