We are about to mount an aft anchor windlass. It is an Ankarlift from Båtsystem. We have decided to place it on portside mounted towards the aft. The problem is the angel. Most windlasses are recommended to be mounted vertically, but the aft has as you know a certain angel. Does anyone have any experiences to share how to overcome this and maybe some tricks for mounting?

Hi Mafie, when I saw the thread I wondered if the question was coming from Sweden I'm not familiar with your boat but I'm guessing that the set-up is not to dissimilar to my SO40 but scaled down. In which case I think the manual has the answer for you pdf.nauticexpo.com/pdf/batsystem/ankarlift/32418-12441-_3.html

Thanks for your answer. The instructions in the installation manual does not fully help. I have understood that it is recommended to mount the windlass close to vertically and I am therefore qurious to learn how others have solved this. Maybe with wooden constructions or plastic to compensate for the angle of the aft. Yes, we are based on the Swedish Westcoast.

If you look at the second image with the sloping transom, they are suggesting that rather than mounting it in the locker directly on the transom you mount it to the cockpit side of the locker where it is vertical.
