Hi,
I am considering the purchase of a Jeanneau Espace 1100 - there seem to be quite a few on the market and they all look to have lasted well. The joinery particularly seems to be of a high standard.
Some seem to be advertised as a 1100 while others seem to be an 1100DL and I cannot see the difference. The years of manufacture seem to be random and there seems to be no difference in the molds or interior configuration. Can anyone shed any light on the differences (if any).
Also, how many of these had the lift keel - most adverts dont mention it.
Finally, anyone got any good or bad things to say about this particular model?
Cheers

Sorry for late reply. I am not 100% certain but I suspect DL is for Dériveur Lesté which translates as ballasted lifting keel. I don't know production numbers for the 2 variants but the lift keel option did seem to be available on quite a few Jeanneau's of this generation. I am not aware of any model specific problems, obviously you will need to check for issues like Osmosis, general condition of hull, deck, rig, mechanicals, electronics etc but presume you will engage a well reviewed surveyor prior to a purchase At least one has circumnavigated and there is an informative blog of one being used in the inland waterways of Europe by an Australian couple at: annieart.wordpress.com/about/

Yes the DL is the lift keel model. We have an 1100 which we like. It is a very stable boat with plenty of room. However the bunks are not really roomy and so we tend to sleep in separate cabins. At this age, they tend to be reasonably well equipped. We have everything we want although a couple of the old instruments won't work. We can't detect any osmosis; make sure that if you are looking at a DL, you get to see the keel fully extended as they are subject to corrosion. We have had up to 7 knots under a gennaker and usually get adequate performance. We find the interior helm is interesting but we have yet to be in a situation where we really needed to use it. Watch out for crazing of the windows and check for rotting in the cushion foam and hull lining. Have a look at the SO43DS; ex charter boats down to 100,000 euros.
